Meet Team Insanity

After weeks of trying to convince everyone I know (including plenty of people I haven't talked to in many, many months) we finally have a full team for the 2008 Kokoda Challenge: Shane, Brock, Wayne and myself. Woohoo!

Wayne's off on a work trip to China this week, so our first training session since putting in the registration was just Shane, Brock and I out a Mt Coot-tha this afternoon. For about 3 hours we wandered around different trails and for the second week running we climbed up the mega-hill on the aptly named Kokoda Track around by the Channel Nine studios. I don't like that hill, but it's good practice.

This week's walk wasn't the most comfortable for any of us: Shane had picked up a cold and sounded fairly congested, Brock had taped up feet from the new-shoe-blisters from last week's effort, and I was still taking pain killers after the Brisbane Marathon 10k earlier in the morning. But we managed to randomly drag ourselves around for 3 hours for around 14-15 km.

Just under 13 weeks of training time left for Kokoda this year (because I'm hoping to be home and asleep by this time on the Sunday of that weekend) so we need to start heading out, hitting the actual course, and beating it into submission :)
