It's 4 days out from the Brisbane Marathon 10km and I'm still not running.
I went for a slow jog early on Saturday morning and managed to get about 2km before a sharp pain in my knee made me stop and walk. That was the only run I've done in the last week, and have since been stretching, doing some of my old physio exercises, resting, and ice-packing the knee.
It's irritating.
But hey, at least the run on Sunday should go well with all my other races since last August seeing as I've taken the week off before the race for the same injury for all of them (excluding the Womens Day fun run earlier in the year - that time off was for a cold!).
Just once, I'd like to actually get to one of these races with a decent lead up.
Obviously, as I'm not currently running, my training for the half marathon has stalled. This week sees me skipping the next of the 3km time trials (still aiming to get that below 14 min) but hopefully with next weeks program being "recovery week" and containing nothing but the cruisy 40 min run, I should be able to get back into the swing of things. And there's still 12 weeks left to the GCM, so perhaps if all I aim to do is finish rather than finish quickly then it should all work out ok :)
I'm still hopeful of getting at least one short, slow jog in somewhere this week. The knee feels like it's holding up better today than it was a few days ago, but I also thought that on Saturday and that ended badly. But if it comes down to running during the week versus running on Sunday then I'm going to pick Sunday.
